Medical simulation for education and training is becoming common in Italy and Puglia is ready to seize the opportunity.
Indeed this was the focus of the Tesiamed research project, which was co-financed by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and carried out by Masmec, Emac and the University of Bari.
The project delivered an advanced simulation system that has been installed at the School of Medicine of the University of Bari: it is a medical navigation system based on augmented and virtual reality, which is part of a multimedia room. This setup allows students and healthcare professionals to feel immersed in an operating room scenario and to train with sophisticated technologies, while their colleagues can watch what is happening on the screens connected to the simulation room.
